Icing Glaze

    Mixing bowl
    Spatula
    Hand Whisk

  • Prep

    Prepare fruit juice, zest or chocolate, espresso, or extracts- whatever you will use for flavoring.

    Confectioner’s Sugar
    Vanilla Extract
    Juice (Optional) if you want a fruit flavoring
    Extract or Liqueur (Optional) if you want another flavoring

  • Ingredients

    Confectioner’s Sugar 2 Cups
    Water  60ml (2 oz =   4 tbsp)
    Juice (Optional) If using juice make the liquid component 1/2 juice and 1/2 water.
    Extract or Liqueur 1-2 tsp to taste

  • Steps

    STEP 1:  Whisk together confectioner’s sugar and lemon juice. Add the sugar gradually to get the consistency you like. Add more if you need to. You want it as thick as possible while still being pourable.

    STEP 2:  You an pour or spoon the glaze over the top and let it run down the sides or you can drizzle the glaze on and let it run down the sides. (Depends on how much glaze you want on it). Allow the glaze to set for 1 hour before serving.

Notes

Spoon or pour the icing over the cake or dessert. For large cakes, let it drip down the sides.
To glaze apple turnovers or other pasties, make it a little thicker with more confectioner's sugar and pipe it on.
