An icing is a thin, sweet glaze that is usually spooned or poured, dripped and drizzled over cakes, pastries and cookies. It's main components are cream and confectioner's sugar, although royal icing uses egg whites. Depending on the thickness icings are intended to either semi harden or fully harden.
